Mangaluru, Jun 13: Konaje police on Sunday June 13 intercepted a car at Natekal, Manjanady and arrested two persons who were transporting banned MDMA drugs.
The car with with registration number KL 14 R 3536 was heading from Uppinangady to Kerala through Malkar, Mudipu and Natekal route.
Based on a tip-off, Kasargod residents Shafik and Altaf who were in the car were stopped and questioned. They confessed to carrying the contraband substance and said that they had bought it from Kammanahalli, Bengaluru.
The police confiscated 65 grams of MDMA drugs worth Rs 3.9 lac that was in their possession.
The police also seized the duo's white Swift car worth Rs 5 lac and four mobile phones worth Rs 11,000. The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 9.01 lac.
Konaje station police sub-inspector Mallikarjuna Biradara and staff arrested the two accused.
The operation was conducted by Nataraj, ACP traffic, Konaje police inspector Prakash Devadiga, PSI Mallikarjuna Biradara, Sharanappa Bhandary, ASI Mohan, staff Nagaraja Lamani, Ashok, Purushotham, Manjunath and Shivakumar under guidance from assistant police commissioner Ranjith Kumar Bandaru, on directions from Hariram Shanker, deputy police commissioner law and order.
A case in this connection has been registered at Konaje police station.
The accused have been produced in the court.
