June 11: DK records 506 new corona cases, Udupi 215; 4 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, June 11: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, June 11 reported 506 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi reported 215 fresh cases and one death.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,87,315 samples have been tested so far, out of which 8,04,622 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 82,693 out of which 6,972 are currently active. The positivity rate of district is 12.40%.

As many as 479 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.

The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 972.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 73,65,417 as fine in 62,741 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,29,699 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 215 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 63,796 out of which 3,717 are currently active.

A total of 309 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.

Coronavirus has claimed 354 lives in the district so far, including one on Friday.

Till now, 3,00,199 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 89,580 have received the second dose.
