Bengaluru, Jun 10: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday launched the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mobile application developed by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (e- Governance) for disbursing the Covid reliefs and compensation amounts sanctioned by the State Government and other benefits to the people.

As many as 120 schemes in the State have been included in this platform.

The DBT app can be downloaded through Google play store and registered through e- KYC. This app will connect to NPCI and will update on the present status of bank seeding. The DBT mobile app will also provide scheme wise information regarding instalments of transferred amount, date of payment, bank account number and UTR number.

For the past two years, more than Rs 12,000 crore has been directly credited to the bank accounts of beneficiaries, whose Aadhar numbers have been linked to the bank accounts.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness that this system has eliminated misuse of funds, middlemen and loopholes.

All packages announced by the Government during Covid 19 first wave and second wave has been paid through this platform, the Chief Minister said.

As announced in the budget, all schemes which provide financial assistance in the State will be brought under DBT platform, he added.

This platform will identify the beneficiary through the Aadhar number and considers the beneficiary's Aadhar as financial address and will directly transfer the cash to the Aadhar linked bank account.

It was difficult for the citizens to check if their Aadhar is linked to the bank account, as the information regarding it was only available in UIDI website. If the bank account of the citizens is not linked with their Aadhar, it is not possible for them to avail the cash through the State Government's Aadhar Based Payment System.

Most of the beneficiaries did not have information about which of their bank account is linked to Aadhar. Hence, it was difficult for them to know which account has been credited with the cash benefit from the Government.

As the State Government is not receiving applications from the citizens and is disbursing cash on the basis of eligibility, they will not be informed about other transfer of cash. The State Government has developed the DBT mobile app in order to resolve all these issues, the Chief Minister said.

The intention of the Government to bring in transparency will be fulfilled only when citizens use this application. Hence, the citizens must make the best use of this application and keep themselves informed about the transfer of benefits.

Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department I S N Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary e- Governance, Rajiv Chawla, DBT Project Director Shrivatsa, Deputy Director, NIC Jayanthi and others were present.
