Mangaluru/Udupi, June 9: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, June 9 reported 594 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi reported 409 fresh cases and three deaths.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,79,612 samples have been tested so far, out of which 7,98,018 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 81,594, out of which 6,986 are currently active.
As many as 637 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 961.
With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 73,10,567 as fine in 62,231 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,22,686 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 409 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 63,292 out of which 3,766 are currently active.
A total of 423 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Coronavirus has claimed 351 lives in the district so far, including three on Wednesday.
Till now, 2,89,207 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 88,270 have received the second dose.
