Mumbai: State sets up panel to look into school fee complaints

Mumbai, Jun 8: The state set up a Divisional Fee Regulatory Committees (DFRC) on Monday June 7 after receiving several complaints from parents of schools charging exorbitant fees.

Shashikant Savale, a retired district judge will head the five-member DFRC in Mumbai. State education minister Varsha Gaikwad said that parents were complaining about the fees being charged by schools despite the lockdown in the academic year 2020-21.

In a statement issued, she said that parents can now appeal against the fees charged by their schools.
