Mumbai, Jun 7: Former MLA and Shiv Sena leader, Krishna Hegde wrote a letter to Guardian Minister (Mumbai Suburbs) Aditya Thackeray to help in quashing the FIR registered against seven persons accused of holding demonstrations against the desecration of Our Mother of Velankini cross at Kurla West in 2017.
The seven persons included a teacher, her children and a bank employee. Hegde said since the protests were religious in nature, silent and peaceful - with no damage to property, the FIRs ought to be withdrawn so the persons and their families are relieved from the trauma.
The FIR filed states- unlawful assembly and obstructing government authorities. "Christians are peaceful people by nature. I am hopeful that the government will consider my request," Hegde added.
