Petrol price breaches Rs 100 barrier in Karnataka, galloping further

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 7: Oil prices have been racing ahead from some time now. People who are already feeling a lot of inconvenience because of the lockdown, are facing further problems because of the petrol price hike. Now petrol cost has overtaken Rs 100 mark, giving rise to worry in the minds of the common people. At several places in the state, petrol price per litre has already shot to beyond Rs 100.

Petrol price per litre is over Rs 100 in Ballari, Uttara Kannada and Chikkamagaluru districts. Price of one litre petrol in Sirsi, Uttara Kannada, is Rs 100.22.The same costs Rs 100.08 in Ballari and Rs 100.06 in Chikkamagaluru. A litre of XP petrol costs Rs 103.56 in Ballari.

The chances of petrol prices overtaking the mark of Rs 100 per litre in other places in the state are high. This most likely will result in a hike in prices of certain other commodities. People who already are suffering during lockdown because of no earnings and rising cost of essentials, are sure to be hit further.

Yes, petrol prices are increasing steadily, this is what called 'Achedin'. Don't be surprised all other commodity prices will increase and people will quietly bare the pain, because of majority voters do not know the economy, they know only Modi and his false promises (package). Where are those people who is to protest on the roads before 2014 for mere 10 to 20 Paisa increase in the petrol and bus bares???? Can you understand who was doing this??? If I have not mistaken, Karnataka is the highest tax paying state in the country, and also the political looting in the state also high.

In india 2 types of petrol pumps should run. One petrol pump for common citizens and other one for BHAKTS. In petrol pump of common citizens the price of petrol must keep minimum RS 50 and on the other hand RS 250 must be collected from Bhakts as they dont care even if price of petrol increases to Rs 1000. In this was common people can be benefitted.

So till Rs 199 is fine and then only will you guys wake up from your sleep just like the BJP central leadership during the Corona 2nd wave ? Petrol and gas prices need to be subsidized immediately, otherwise it will lead to uncontrollable stagflation (even worse than inflation).

Every citizen has the right to speak about such issues. Most of the population is suffering. Perhaps you need to come down a wee bit to earth and see with your eyes open the sufferings our citizens are going through. Sunflower oil used to cost 120 rupees even that has gone sky high. Sorry, all state elections are over. Petrol prices are subject to international oil prices (sarcasm intended). PPF/NSC interest rates were also on their way south. Thanks to state elections in Bengal, TN and Kerala, it was put on hold. Babus wanted to go ahead, but then Nirmala S had to make an embarrassing announcement on the U-turn. Taxes on petrol/diesel were quietly increased during first wave, when crude oil prices dropped - prices at the pump remained unchanged. Now, the price of crude oil has gone up, but taxes still remain. Both state and central government should come together for a resolution on this. With COVID situation continuing, not sure both the governments will be ready for this.

Heerelal, What is your mode of transport - bullock cart ?? Last year when Lockdown was imposed, all public transport came to a standstill but people still had to move about. So, they found a way out by buying two-wheelers. Our city faced remarkable rise in two-wheelers clogging the traffic. Well, since last year, the petrol price has slithered up without choice to the public but currently it's worth walking to the market than paying for the petrol. What doyou suggest people do with thei year-old vehicles ?? Well, with the business halted again this year, which public transport are you advising people use ??
