Udupi, Jun 7: At the entry gate of a hotel that has remained shut due to lockdown, where the name of the hotel is prominently displayed, an ash gourd vine has had a robust growth. An ash gourd that has grown on the name board has been aptly named by the netizens as the 'lockdown ash gourd'.

This ash gourd has taken shape in the vine that has grown around the name board of the hotel located at Car Street here.

Hotels and other establishments have been going through a lean patch now as they have remained closed because of corona-induced lockdown. Moreover, the coast has been getting rains often for the last some weeks either on account of cyclones or pre-monsoon rains. The vine has taken this opportunity to spread its base. The robustly grown vine has several flowers and tender ash gourds and thereby attracts the attention of the people.
