Channapatna, Jun 6: Minister C P Yogeshwar, who created a political storm with his comments against chief minister B S Yediyurappa, on Sunday June 6 said that he and the rest of the anti-Yediyurappa camp in the party had to play the role of the opposition as the opposition parties share a good rapport with the ruling BJP.
He was reacting to the CM Yediyurappa's statement on Sunday that he was prepared to resign any time the high command asks him to.
"I do not want to make any political statement. My statement has already made news. I do not want to speak about the chief minister. It will become a controversy if I speak about the chief minister. We had to play the role of the opposition because those in the opposition have a good rapport with our party," he said.
"I have never spoken out strongly against Yediyurappa. I have always been soft in my criticism. But ours is a national party. There are senior leaders in our party. I will have to resign if they ask me to. Therefore, do not cause confusion by making me speak about the chief minister," he said.
"The opposition parties do not work as opposition should. They are good with our party. Therefore, we ourselves had to work as the opposition party. I have never spoken about chief minister Yediyurappa. He is our leader. Yediyurppa is the leader of BJP. Therefore, I will never speak about him," he reiterated.
Some BJP leaders have openly stated that the chief minister in the state is set to change. Yediyurappa had complained to the high command though his son B Y Raghavendra to warn the faction against him. He has said that the high command has faith in him and he will continue as the chief minister until they ask him to continue. It has been proved that Yediyurappa is a strong force in the state BJP. Several BJP MLAs, ministers and leaders have batted for Yediyurappa after his statement. Revenue minister R Ashok has said that B S Yediyurappa will complete his full term. Basavaraj Bommai, deputy CM Ashwath Narayan and others have spoken in support of Yediyurappa.
