Mangaluru, Jun 6: After chief minister B S Yediyurappa triggered political speculation with his statement that he was confident that the BJP high command had faith in him but he would resign if asked to do so, the party state president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Sunday June 6 came to his defence saying that there was no discussion on change in state leadership at all.
Speaking to media persons here, Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "Yediyurappa is a role model to the party workers. He has said that he will follow the directions of the national leaders and the party. It is the speciality of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)"
"By saying that he will resign if the party leadership asks him to, Yediyurappa has not shown that he is not holding on to power. There is no discussion on changing state leadership in the party. There is no dissidence in the party. Yediyurappa is our leader. Even our national leaders have said that there is no change of leadership in the party. Hence, this discussion is irrelevant," he asserted.
"Chief minister Yediyurappa is handling the Covid-19 situation in the state efficiently. There is no discussion on leadership change in the party or among the national leaders. There is no confusion either. Managing the Covid-19 situation in the state is our focus," Nalin said.
To a question on BJP MLAs creating confusion within the party, Nalin Kumar said, "We have already spoken to them. In the coming days, we will hold a meeting and sort out all the issues. There are no rebels in the party. We have spoken to everyone. We will respond to any kind of complaint."
