Discharges twice more than new cases in Karnataka, Bengaluru single-day cases drop to 2,944

Bengaluru, Jun 6: Karnataka on Sunday June 6 registered 12,209 new coronavirus cases, one of the lowest single-day tallies since the second wave soared in April.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 2,54,505. Bengaluru Urban's single-day tally has come down to 2,944 new cases.

As many as 320 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban alone recording 187 deaths, Mysuru 19 and Belagavi 15. With this, the toll so far has risen to 31,580.

The state recorded 25,659 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 24,09,417.

So far, Karnataka has seen 26,95,523 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day has dropped to 7.71% from over 14% seen last week, while the case fatality rate for the day is 2.62%.

As many as 1,51,12,744 people have received vaccination so far.
