Bantwal, Jun 6: "People's mandate for us is to undertake social service. Therefore, the ministers and legislators have to be in their respective constituencies and serve the people besides saving lives wherever possible. We have to make preparations to combat the third wave of coronavirus if it surfaces. There is no room for any confusion, complacency, or discordant notes. We have made this clear to all the party leaders," said state BJP president, Nalin Kumar Katteel.
He was speaking to media persons who met him at the tourist bungalow here after the inaugural of the first ever oxygen generation unit of Dakshina Kannada district at Vamadapadavu on Saturday June 5.
Nalin said that the chief minister B S Yediyurappa and his team have been efficiently handling the Covid situation. He said that the ministers and legislators have been instructed to manage the Covid situation in their respective constitunecies by remaining in the areas entrusted to them. He added that the MLAs too have been asked to get involved with covid management full time.
On the issue of ministry rejig, he said it is left to the discretion of the chief minister and the focus for the present will be Covid management.
Nalin revealed that a meeting of the leaders of the party was held at Bengaluru on Friday towards making preparations for the upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat elections. "During the previous gram panchayat election, we had undertaken 'Gram Swaraj Yatra'. The Yatra had enabled the party to bag the highest number of seats," he explained.
Nalin said that a master plan has been drawn up for ensuring the party's thumping success in the zilla and taluk panchayat elections. One of the strategies is for the ministers to tour their districts and organise booth level conventions and make the people realise the achievements of the central and state governments, he added.
"The two-lane road works from B C Road to Punjalkatte was delayed due to rain and pipeline laying work. It will be completed in October," he added. He also said that the state government's approval has been obtained for developing the road from Punjalkatte to Charmadi. "The work on B C Road - Addahole road work was delayed due to technical snags and now re-tender has been completed and work has begun from Shiradi side. It will be completed by 2023," Nalin explained.
