Bantwal, Jun 6: The first ever oxygen generation unit in Dakshina Kannada district was dedicated to the world in the premises of the community health centre, Vamadapadavu in the taluk on Saturday June 5.
Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, speaking to the media persons after inaugurating the unit, said that this happens to be the first ever oxygen unit to have been set up to meet oxygen shortage arising out of coronavirus in the district and this unit is meant to handle the situation.
Noting that the fight against coronavirus is going on in an organized way in the taluk, he praised MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Rajesh Naik, and officials for their hard work to achieve this objective. He congratulated them on behalf of the government and the district administration.
Poojary said that the unit is capable of producing 46 litres of oxygen per minute and that such oxygen production units will also be set up in different taluks in stages.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Rajesh Naik Ulipadyguthu, chairman of Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Harikrishna Bantwal, zilla panchayat member M Tungappa Bangera, Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board director Sulochana G K Bhat, taluk panchayat member Prabhakar Prabhu, Chennaittody gram panchayat president Bharati Rajendra Poojary, Bharati Rajendra Poojary, Kiukkipady gram panchayat president Sujata R Poojary, vice president Yogeesh Acharya, chairman of Bantwal Urban Development Authority Devadas Shety and others were present.
Vamadapadavu community health centre medical officer Dr Umesh Adyantaya welcomed and proposed vote of thanks.
Nalin and Rajesh Naik then visited the Covid care centre located in the backward classes girls hostel and obtained information about the infected people. Mangaluru assistant commissioner Madan Mohan, tahsildar Rashmi and extension officer of backward classes Bindiya Nayak provided information.
BJP block president Devappa Poojary, general sectetaries Dombaya Arala and Raveesh Parkala and a number of dignitaries were present.
