Kundapur, Jun 6: Relating to the suspected murder of Uday Ganiga (45) from Hosabalu in Yadamoge village, murder-accused, Pranesh Yadiyal, who happens to be the president of Yadamoge gram panchayat, has been arrested.

Uday Ganiga was standing on the road in front of his house on the night of Saturday June 5 when Pranesh Yadiyal had mowed him down with his car. He then had taken to heels, duly leaving his car behind.

Accused Pranesh Yadiyal

Uday Ganiga had breathed his last when being taken to hospital by an ambulance. Yadiyal's anger against Ganga reportedly was triggered by certain comments passed by Ganiga in his social media posts. Uday Ganiga reportedly had brought into the open several incidents of injustices and irregularities happening in the gram panchayat and that because of this Pranesh Yadiyal had nurtured personal animosity against Ganiga.

Pranesh Yadiyal was in the residence of a member of Ulloor gram panchayat. The police who got the information late night on Saturday, went there and arrested him.

A case regarding the murder has already been registered in Shankaranarayana police station.

Kundapur: Gram panchayat president's car mows down man, murder suspected

Kundapur, Jun 6: A man died after being hit by a car late here on Saturday June 5. The car was allegedly being driven by president of Yadamoge gram panchayat Pranesh Yadiyal, and it is further alleged that it may be a case of suspected 'murder'.

The deceased has been identified as Uday Ganiga (45) from Yadamoge.

The incident had happened at around 8 pm in front of the residence of Uday Ganiga.

Ganiga was standing on the road on Saturday June 5 evening when Pranesh Yadiyal's car allegedly knocked him down. After causing the accident, the panchayat president fled from the spot, leaving behind his car at the spot, it is alleged.

The people summoned the 108 ambulance service. Uday Ganiga breathed his last when being taken to hosplital by the ambulance.

Uday Ganiga had uploaded a status about the lockdown in the gram panchayat two days back. He had advised those in charge of the situation not to exult after providing facility to the villagers and then fencing the village. He had also urged those in positions of power to deal with the problems faced by the coronavirus-infected families and keep the publicity on the backburner for the present. He also had asked them not to misuse the funds received from the government.

Pranesh Yadiyal has now been accused of killing Ganiga in an act of murder.

K Srikanth, deputy superintendent of police here, said that this was a case arising out of friction between Yadiyal and Ganiga. During the spot inspection, prima facie, it appeared that it was not an accident but a planned murder, he said, adding that case would be registered under section 302 (murder). Uday's family too has suspected this to be a case of murder and the same would be probed on the basis of their comlplaint, he said.

I wonder why the person was standing on the road at night to be mowed down by car. Bad days for this GP President. Yadamoge was in complete lock down list of Udupi District till 7.6.2021. As nobody was allowed to be out, he may not have expected his presence on the road.

When I saw the picture of the blood on the ground, it reminded me the word of God almighty "What have you done? Listen! your brother's blood cries out to me from the soil. And so, cursed shall you be by the soil that gaped with its mouth to take your brother's blood from your hand. If you till the soil, it will no longer give you strength. A restless wanderer shall you be on the earth." Rest in peace brother Uday Ganiga, may your soul rest in eternal peace. You are in a better place.

Mentioning of any name and their political parties are applicable in case a person from minority community and he / she belongs to Congress party. If not then those details will be hidden as part of damage control as local leve elections are nearing.
