June 5: DK records 714 new corona cases, Udupi 552; 9 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, June 5: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, June 5 reported 714 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths, while Udupi reported 561 fresh cases and three deaths.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,67,583 samples have been tested so far, out of which 7,88,122 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 79,471, out of which 7,808 are currently active.

As many as 804 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.

The district recorded eight deaths due to coronavirus onSaturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 945.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 71,97,317 as fine in 61,137 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,09,171 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 552 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 61,791 out of which 4,323 are currently active.

A total of 734 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.

Coronavirus has claimed 342 lives in the district so far, including one on Saturday.

Till now, 2,68,422 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 86,752 have received the second dose.
