Bengaluru, Jun 5: The Covid relief amount of Rs 3,000 each to the bank accounts of the 25 lakh construction workers in the State through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode was symbolically launched by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa from his Home Office, Krishna, in Bengaluru on Saturday.
The Chief Minister had announced the Covid relief package and has already approved release of Rs 749.55 crore towards payment of Rs 3,000 each to the bank accounts of the 25 lakh construction workers in the State through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode as part of the Rs 1,250 crore package announced in the first instalment.
Unorganised workers in 11 different trades such as barbers, dhobhis or washermen, tailors, hamals, domestic workers, mechanics, rag pickers, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, cobblers etc. numbering about 3.3 lakh have been promised one-time cash relief of Rs 2,000 each, applications for claiming the amount will have to be submitted through the Seva Sindhu portal, the Chief Minister said.
Yediyurappa said other unorganized sector workers as well as fishermen, Asha and Anganawadi workers have also been promised cash relief.
The Chief Minister said apart from the promised Covid relief package benefits, the State Government has taken up vaccination programme on a war footing. As many as 1.47 doses of vaccines have already been administered in the State.
He promised to take steps for vaccinating the workers in the construction and building profession on a priority basis.
Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar, Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar, Labour Department Additional Chief Secretary G Kalpana, E-Administration Department Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Chawla, Chief Minister’s Additional Chief Secretary Dr E V Ramana Reddy, Chief Minister’s Secretary S Selvakumar, Labour Department Commissioner Akram Pasha and other senior officials were present at the programme.
