Bengaluru: Students’ SSLC marks to be considered to evaluate second PU result

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jun 5: The second PU examinations are cancelled due to second wave of Covid pandemic. For the calculation of grade in the final result of second PU, marks scored by the student in first PU as well as SSLC will be considered. This announcement was made by education minister Suresh Kumar.

Releasing a press statement in this regard, the minister said that he has instructed concerned officials of the PU examination board to consider the marks scored by the students in SSLC also to make the second PU results more comprehensive and justifiable.

Suresh Kumar

Minister Suresh Kumar has instructed the officials to get the SSLC marks of the second PU students from the SSLC examination board and tally them in a suitable manner with the first PU marks scored by the candidate and declare the second PU results by the end of June.

Earlier, during a programme on Daijiworld TV, parents of the students of second PU had opined that SSLC marks should be considered while announcing the results of second PU. The parents urged the PU board to get the statistics related to the marks from Karnataka state secondary education examination board and club the same with first PU marks and declared the final results of second PU at the end of June. BJP state spokesperson Ganesh Karnik had assured that this suggestion would be brought to the notice of education minister. In addition, association of principals of Dakshina Kannada had also sent an appeal in this regard.

Dear Minister, Please note this point - (copied from one post). SSLC subjects and PUC subjects are totally different for PUC commerce students. In SSLC my friend failed in 2 subjects and later passed in revaluation. In 1st PUC commerce he scored 70% marks . , Commerce and Arts students are poor in Maths and Science. Also HINDI and Kannada is optional language. How they can evaluate the result Totally confusing

I suggest that evaluation should be done on the basis of marks obtained in all classes from Kindergarten to 1st PU. Later, please also conduct an IQ test on this Minister.

On similar lines the next election cycles in the country could have been kept with incumbent based in last election instead of conducting it during the pandemic. Personally its a mess. Hope institutions can conduct their own entrance exams like manipal and enroll their students Independantly. If i was in 12 right now id be convinced that prayers work 😅

Need to check whether this minister is fit for the position. Promote all the students with 50% marks. Those who want to get more or they think they deserve above 50% then let government conduct exams form them.

This is the sad reality of cancelling exams students might celebrate but don't understand the effect on their career. A student who didn't perform well maybe just pass in sslc and was very well prepared for puc exams has to face the same marks again....
