Kasargod, Aug 23: Shahjahan, police constable deputed as the gunman of Abdul Nasser Madani, has suddenly proceeded on leave. His move has come at a time when the Bangalore police have issued notice to him to appear before them for questioning. Various theories are making rounds about the gunman’s motives.
The Bangalore police want to make this gunman the prime witness for the case pertaining to Bangalore blasts. The constable, a resident of Manakkad near Thiruvananthapuram, and attached to Kollam A R Camp unit of the police department, has gone on leave without serving prior notice.
In the past too, the Karnataka police had asked the Kerala police department to allow them to question the gunman, but the department had not paid heed to these requests.
In the charge sheet filed in the court of the judicial magistrate in Bangalore, the Bangalore police have accused Madani of hatching a conspiracy to set off blasts in eight places in Bangalore, in association with his confidant, Tadiyandavida Nassir. They have alleged that the plot to plant the bombs there were hatched at Lakkeri Estate in Kodagu district.
