Panaji, Aug 23: Prime Minister’s office ignored the municipal corporation of Delhi’s suggestion to have single window clearance system for Common Wealth Games (CWG) infrastructure which delayed the entire projects, said a former mayor here.
Addressing presspersons former Delhi mayor Arti Mehra said, “I had asked Prime Minister to have single window system to clear CWG related files. There was only one meeting over the matter and thereafter there were no meetings.” She said that the work to create infrastructure got delayed and even after that the files for various clearances were pending in central government departments.
“To curb the delay we had suggested single window clearance system,” Mehra, who held the office of the civic body from 2007 to 2009, said. Former Delhi mayor has taken charge as BJP’s Goa desk in-charge and was down in the coastal state to interact with the leaders.
The BJP leader stated that she had also suggested that special Prime Minister’s office (PMO) should be set up dedicated to CWG. “The office was later set up one and half year ago after much late,” she said. Mehra said that there are major faults in all the 19 stadiums. “Water is dripping everywhere. The roads are caving in. CWG were pride of India, which is now compromised,” she added.
BJP leader said that the stadiums were aimed at providing home ground advantage for Indian players but what is happening is opposite. “The situation is dangerous,” she said adding that the amount of
corruption in setting up the infrastructure was huge.
