Udupi: Father, son arrested for sexually assaulting minor girl

Udupi, Jun 1: A father-son duo were arrested by women police of the city on Monday May 31 under POCSO act on the accusation of sexually harassing a minor girl.

The arrested accused are identified as Shivashankar (58) and Sachin (28) of Ballari origin. It is said that they sexually exploited a 14-year-old girl in Parkala. Shivashankar used to work in a food delivery company, while his son Sachin was working in a canteen at Manipal.

A complaint was raised in this connection with the child helpline of the district. The concerned officials acted swiftly, rescued the victim girl and provided her alternative accommodation and arrested the accused.

Kapila, rescue officer, Ashok and Jyoti of women police station took part in the operation. SI Violet Femina has registered a complaint in this regard under the guidance of women police station inspector Pramod Kumar.

    Mr. Shetty, the quote from you ""Hard to believe any one now a days...especially Indian channels for that matter"" is a welcome sign from a bhakth. I thought bhakths believed everything. BTW< Yes, we heard only one side but it has to be investigated more as Shankar said earlier. I still believe Nehru is behind this and I am certain bhakths have a reason to believe this angle of the story.

    Why are all the commentators reading so much in the charge of "sexual harassment " and "sexual exploitation"? The headline also characterizes these charges as "sexual assault". What do all these terms mean? Was there a physical interference? or just using filthy language that offends the modesty of a girl child who is a minor? Furthermore, the report says that the victim was provided "alternate accommodation". Where was the victim living before? With these father-son duo? These matters should be thoroughly investigated and due legal process should be followed, before jumping into any conclusion. The comments above who that they have already convicted both - they are judge, jury and prosecutor rolled into one.

    Mohan Prabhu Canada,dear Sir,the fact that sexuell assault in India means that too by father son duo itself brings strong emotions by readers,atleast by me at any way.Victim itself is a young girl of fourteen years ,Noone wants to undergo at this age,less later can also end who knows how.We already know how many girls were victims and noone from Politic side did anything till now.For them it is only a number.Men however further try to assault girls,women at any possible situation they have.Should we simply hear ,read and keep quite?Try to findout why and where is always helpful.Such a filthy duo ,father and son ,what a model of father ,giving a good example to his younger generation ?They should have seen her as their daughter or a family member .wherever she lives or what is the family situation is ,noone has the right to assault a girl on her way or even in house.Respect is the word towards women ,that these men practice and learn ,teach to their kin.Proper investigation and punishement is the need of the hour.

    Need to hear from both end. Now a days can't trust such complaints. We know what happens in most of dowry cases. This can also be a matter of any personal vendetta where making both father and son as victim. By giving mere complaint and arresting doesn't make them real culprits. It has to get peoved in court. I want to understand is mere complaint is sufficient for arresting pople on such cases or even proof is required before for arrest??

Those people didnt care for any situation and gave proper funeral for dead bodies of all the communities...else the dead bodies would have been rotting on roads or gutter..Dont be like Angana Runout..Have some empathy ...

    Shoib, 40 or more children kutte/billi ke bhi hote gai, but they don't need to go to school, wear clothes, take medicine, live inside a house. We being humans requiring all these necessities, better if we limit to how many we can provide for. If you show your strength when young and die by 50, who will look after your 45 dependants while others dependents may be just 3 ?
