Recoveries outnumber new coronavirus cases in Karnataka

Bengaluru, May 31: Karnataka on Monday, May 31 registered 16,604 new coronavirus cases, a sharp decline from nearly 40,000 daily cases that were being reported a few days ago.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 3,13,730. Bengaluru Urban's single-day tally has come down to 3,992 new cases.

As many as 411 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Monday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 242 deaths and Ballari eight. With this, the toll has risen to 29,090.

The state recorded 44,473 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 22,61,590.

So far, the state has seen 26,04,431 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 13.57%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 2.47%.

As many as 1,36,17,575 people have received the vaccination.
