Daijiworld Media Network - Ernakulam

Ernakulam, May 31: Fr George Palamattam was arrested for violating lockdown rules by conducting Holy Communion in the church at Poovathussery on Monday, May 31. The priest, who is also the church vicar, serves at St Joseph's church in Chengamanad, in Ernakulam district in Kerala.

Altogether, the police said to have booked 25 people over the incident. The Holy Communion was held around 8 am on Monday. A total of 25 people including children, parents, church vicar and assistant vicar took part in the ceremony.

The police rushed to the church after receiving a complaint and initiated action for violating lockdown restrictions. A case was also registered as per the Epidemic Act. Fr George Palamattam was later released on bail.

The police has assured that all the accused will be arrested. Sources said that local self-government institutions also restricted the church from conducting the ceremony but the ceremony was held under the leadership of the church vicar.

The church comes under Irinjalakuda diocese.

The law is equal to all. Kerala is one state that is equal to all religions. Kudos to following the letter if the law. But please enforce it equally…

Being a Christian, i condemn the gathering of people in the church. Religious sentiments shouldn't overpower common sense. Law enforcement agencies should take strict action if this violation was deliberate.

Priests and nuns, have fallen prey to this devastating pandemic across our nation.... They should religiously follow Covid19 protocol, as layed down by the state.. They cannot endanger the lives of the parishioners. This priest must be severely penalized for his outlandish behavior !!!

Why communist chinese viruses in the first place? For God everyone is living eternally either temporary on earth or heaven, purgatory or hell. Only elites and communist chinese and their agents think that Earth is their permanent place. Looks like That's why they brought out communist chinese viruses or elites / western liberal vaccines to decimate much of humanity and try to control and rule the world with their playbook shutdowns to bring down the economy for easier manouevre and control . But God intervenes upon prayers, that's why communists have closed or trying to close the worship places around the world with raising fear of virus so no prayer goes and they can carry out their evil, bring out more viruses for their Global Reset or New World Order. Why volcanoes erupting to show that there is a hell underneath and a season of earthquakes asteroids sea surge is coming in diverse places around the world as per many divine messages so no one is safe but on mercy of God and for clean up before 1000 years of peace within a decade ahead.

geoffrey, Matters! Worship places specially Churches are mini kingdom of heaven on earth. It also the body of Christ, Jesus is the head! Where one finds Inner Peace...That's why satan attacks most... Bible says in St Matthew 18:3 And he (Jesus) said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ( That means no reasoning at all! or child like trust in God!)

Yes they disobeyed the law of present pandemic which was introduced by colonial power British. To harass we need them, but when pandemic itself is based on fake tests and false narrative of asymptomatic spread the law is illegal! I applaud US Supreme Court which struck down New York city law which prohibited church worship and celebrations of feasts during Christmas, the court ruled state has no right to interfere in the religious matters even during pandemic. It is against the constitution which had guaranteed the right to practice and worship which either state or federal government cannot amend but have to follow. It is the right of the church and the people to decide what is good for them. India needs lot of years before such a ruling we can have from our own courts. The leftists are against God and religion, this is the golden opportunity for them to trample human rights in the guise of fake pandemic. Globalists are happy to see these incidents as it is easier for them to start a New Reset as God, religion, family are their major obstacles in implementing the same.

David Pais, Mangalore : If one person is eating cow dung or human waste, would you also like to do the same? then whats the difference between the people gathered in a huge number for kumbh mela and us? Don't act same as others do. you be different than others then entire world will be different for you and u will stay happy. Don't point out at others. All know the reason behind the spread. But during that time there was no lock down as well. Right now every where in India there is lock down. Hope you understand this.

BJP has realised that they cannot win Kerala by going against both Muslims and Christians. So so they have chosen to woo Christian voters. All these comments in social media, like the one above by Shankar are also part of this propaganda. Regarding the news item, Yes everybody is same infront of country's law no matter who is breaking it. Kudos to Kerala Police

We can expect these kind of actions by CPM government in Irinjalakuda assembly constituency. Though CPM candidate Bindu won the seat, the huge support of Christians to BJP made its voteshare swell to 22% in Irinjalakuda constituency, raising the wrath of the Chief minister on this community!!!

So what are you trying to say? Did govt do the right thing by arresting them or not. Say in simple words yes or no? Actually bjp should have helped them out of this situation ,comm'on atleast so much they can do in return for voting for bjp..what say? When you have organised kumbmela for millions ,this is jus small gathering of 2dozen people. Your party should be helping them
