Bantwal, May 31: An assistant police sub-inspector (ASI), who had fallen ill and was being treated in a hospital, suffered heart attack and lost his life.
The ASI who breathed his last was Jayaram Rai (58), a resident of Manchi. He was serving as ASI in Bantwal town police station. He was suffering from backache for the last some days and had got himself admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru. His end came on Monday May 31 morning.
Rai had served in different police stations of Dakshina Kannada district. He was known for handling the crime department in Bantwal town station under complicated circumstances. For the last some years, he was posted as ASI in Bantwal town station.
Jayaram Rai was an upright and sincere officer known for his loyalty. He has left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and scores of relatives, friends and well-wishers.
