Mangaluru, May 30: To mark the 7th year of governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the centre, MP and state president of BJP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Sunday May 30 planted saplings at Mahatma Gandhi park at Mannagudde here.
Addressing the gathering, Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "Seven years have been completed since Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister of India. PM Modi has successfully handled the corona situation in the country. Hence, as part of 'Seva hi Sangathan', we are celebrating the 7th anniversary of the government by planting saplings."
MLA Vedavyas Kamath, BJP leader Vijay Kumar, and others were present.
Later, Nalin Kumar visited the community health center at Lady Hill to honour health workers.
"Several countries across the globe have acknowledged India through the works of Narendra Modi. As Prime Minister, he has increased the country's pride and maintained good relationship with various other countries," Nalin said.
"The Modi government has implemented several programmes under the health department. In the first wave of Covid-19, in Karnataka, the BJP distributed grocery kits to 1.68 crore families. Food kits have been distributed to 68 lac families for five months. Medicinal kits have been distributed to 3.50 lac people," he added.
He also said that the country has sent PPE kits to various other nations. "In the budget, the Prime Minister allocated major funds for the health department. Though the second wave posed a challenge, now oxygen beds and ventilators have been set up in primary health centers and taluk health centers. The Prime Minister also gave importance to the production of vaccines. The union government has vaccinated 20 crore people in six months free of cost. Within six months of the arrival of coronavirus, the country produced vaccines," he said.
He also lauded corporator Ganesh Kulal for cremating the mortal remains of 19 Covid-19 patients.
Lauding ASHA workers for their immense service to contain the spread of Covid-19, he said, "Felicitating the health workers is equal to serving God."
Health workers were felicitated on the occasion.
