Sullia, May 30: In a bizarre incident, the police here have recovered 35 grams of gold jewellery from the stomach of a man.
The accused, identified as Shibu, has been arrested.
On May 29 at around 9 pm, Shibu complained of abdominal pain and was taken to hospital for treatment. During X-ray scan, he was found to have jewellery in his intestine and was admitted for monitoring and further care.
On Sunday May 30, around 35 grams of gold ornaments were recovered and seized.
Shibu, on enquiry, revealed that he had swallowed the jewellery with ice cream in order to hide the stolen property from police.
The accused has been discharged from the hospital and sent to judicial custody.
