Bengaluru, May 29: Experts feel that the third wave of coronavirus will affect children more. The worry is that the state is short of paediatricians.
The government and local bodies are seriously mulling over this issue and strengthening the treatment facilities for children. At present there are around 3,000 paediatricians in the state. In Bengaluru there are around 1,200 of them. First and second wave of coronavirus had affected nearly 2,32,000 children. But this figure is going to increase considerably in the third wave as per the experts.

Adolescents in the age group of 10 to 15 can be treated by expert doctors. However, children below the age of 10 need paediatricians as they are mischievous and may not behave as expected. So one paediatrician is required for two to three children.
The technical expert advisory committee formed by the state government under the leadership of senior doctor Dr Devi Shetty is gathering information on the paediatric hospitals and other related statistics. A solution will soon be found for this issue.
