Manglaore Aug 21: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on Saturday August 21 opposed the move of the government of bringing down temples, churches and mosques in the name of demolishing illegally constructed buildings.
Speaking to presspersons Pradeep Kumar Kalkura accused deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj of dictatorship and stressed that India being a democratic country, people are free to follow their own religion. Moreover, here people are very sentimental about the temples, mosques, churches and basadis and therefore should not be demolished, they urged.
Kalkura said that the move to demolish several Jain basadis, Maroli Suryanaryana Temple, St Lawrence Church, Bondel and some ancient mosques which are said to be illegal as per the maps is meaning less
and shows that India is moving towards dictatorship.
State convenor Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Mohan Gowda said that temples nagabanas and bhajana mandirs has a history of more than 30 years and law of adverse position says that after 30 years of property possession it cannot be demolished calling it as illegal.
Zilla Andolan Pramukh Hindu Janajagruti Samithi,Sullia Ram Bhat said that a protest will be staged combining the leaders from all the community at various places in the district including DC office on
September 20 to oppose the bitter decisions of the government.
Retired deputy Tahsildar Sriram Bhat was also present.
