Mangaluru, May 29: Former MLC Ivan D’Souza alleged that out of 100 vaccine doses, 70 are for the public and 30 for BJP supporters and also that BJP is running a vaccine mafia.

Addressing media here on Saturday May 29, he said, “The vaccination centers see huge crowds where 500 people gather for 100 doses of vaccine. As many as 70 coupons are distributed for 100 doses and remaining 30 are kept by BJP MLAs and representatives. If 500 people gather, 430 are sent back. After people vacate vaccination centres, these BJP representatives bring their relatives or persons known to them for vaccination. It has also come to notice that coupons are being sold at Rs 200 at Vamanjoor.

“BJP are deciding who should take the vaccine and who should not, leading to a mafia. The gap between the first and second dose is decided by the BJP. While the Prime Minister and the state government has announced free vaccination, BJP MLAs and MPs are recommending people to take vaccination from private hospital which costs from Rs 900 to Rs 2,000. Why these representatives promoting private hospitals?

“Only 10% of the population in the country has taken vaccination. Can it be termed as irresponsibility or a failure? Even the service charges at private hospitals for vaccination has increased from Rs 100 to Rs 200. Why are the vaccines easily available at private hospitals and not in government hospitals? BJP has made vaccination drives a business. They are fit to do business and are not in favour of people.

“We will carry out silent protest on Monday March 31 at Bejai school condemning this vaccine mafia,” he said.

Ivan also said, “We urge the district administration to allow to open all the shops and change the present timings to 8 am-12 noon. Along with essentials, all others shops should be opened at least for two hours.”

The INC are hopelessly irrelevant, they have consistently lost elections and are desperately piggybacking on regional parties n fringe radicalized outfits, for survival. They must boot out the Dynastical family in Delhi... there are many talented young contenders, who can galvanise the ailing party and hopefully provide an alternative to the BJP... Aimlessly casting stones and giving sound bytes, is a foolish, desperate attempt at garnering sympathy and attention.. Moreover it is just a mere source of entertainment for bored Lockdown citizens !!!!

This opportunist does not seem to know when to speak what. The whole country is facing innumerable hardships due to Covid-19 and this petty politician is raising issues that will lower the morale of the people. If he wants to tackle this mafia, let him do the required work on ground instead of speaking in a press conference. After all, he is a lawyer and he knows too well what legal action can be taken against the mafia. Silent protests are cheap gimmicks, let him file a case against those MLAs and MPs.

Mr. Ivan is absolutely right. I am not at all endorsing Ivan is hold cow. One hospital DK/ Udupi belt, who are always partronising BJP, has a stock of vaccine and one has to book on line for vaccination. The charges are Rs. 1,250/= . Isn't is BJP and hospital mafia are working together.

@Harold.I am a politically neutral person. The same hospital you have mentioned had recently organized a phone in program about "black fungus". I asked a question "How are ventilators sterilized" , my worst fears were conformed when an "expert" said that ventilators need not be sterilized!!! On further questioning the "expert" said "I do not want to answer your question " and then my call was disconnected!! (I have an audio recording of the conversation)There are certain parts e.g tubes which are single use( but used for multiple patients if I am not mistaken), certain parts ( depending on the type of ventilator) like cannulae, connectors, masks, filters, ambu bag, valves etc have to be sterilized or disinfected. Those who have visited hospitals would have noticed that the same oxygen mask is used in the next patient without sterilization. Who (WHO) is responsible for all this, certainty not the virus!!!

Please think before commenting. For you every thing good happening is also bad as the work is done by bjp. Also as you support congress then you should be the one nit taking vaccines. I think if congress was in power then the stae would have been worst.

Be it Tipu Jayanti or CAA protests Ivan merely wanted to gain political mileage just as in this case. All sections of minorities didn't endorse CAA protests. There's no reason for them to protest against CAA. Many minorities support CAA as well as abrogation Art.370 even though they may not have voted for BJP.
