Bengaluru, May 28: State BJP president and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel denied rumours regarding a change in the leadership in the state. Defending the CM, the BJP MP said, “There is no change of leadership in the state. Nothing is discussed on this subject anywhere. No changes will be made. The discussion regarding the change in CM were making rounds since the day Yediyurappa took oath as the CM. Yediyurappa will be our leader for the next two years. He will complete his term. There has been no meeting of the BJP legislative committee and till the threat of the pandemic is around, no meetings will be held.”
Nalin participated in the programme at Yeshwanthpur where the families of the Covid victims were given Rs 1 lac as compensation. Reacting strongly to the statement given by minister Yogeshwar, Nalin said, “CM Yediyurappa is working 24/7. The team of ministers are also working efficiently. Yediyurappa declared an economic package to assure the public that he is with them. Yogeshwar is in a responsible position and he will be liable to give an explanation for his statement where he claimed that the state government is inefficient. I will also seek details on the accusation made on CM's son Vijayendra regarding the latter's 'interference' in the functioning of the state government.”
The BJP MP warning all the MLAs said, “Now, only Covid related works are being undertaken. No other activities are being prioritized. I have already instructed the MLAs of BJP in this regard. I am repeating the same now. MLAs should concentrate only on Covid related works and not get involved in any other political activity.”
“Coronavirus pandemic has not only affected Karnataka or India but also the whole world. There is no need for us to lose faith. The number of recoveries is more in Karnataka now. The second wave of Covid is coming under control. There were issues in the state during the beginning of the second wave. Now they have been resolved. Ministers are putting their efforts and implementing rules under the leadership of CM Yediyurappa. Minister Somashekhar has done excellent work in Mysuru to contain the spread of Covid,” he added.
Mocking minister Yogeshwar’s statement that the governance in the state is not efficient, minister Somashekar said, “Only those who have switched over from three political parties can make such statement. Our government has not entered into an alliance with any other party. It is not right on the part of Yogeshwar to give a statement like this being a cabinet minister.”
Minister Somashekhar defending Vijayendra said, “Vijayendra is not meddling in the affairs of the government at all. To date, there is no instance of him interfering in my department. He is working as the vice president of the party and not meddling in the affairs of government.”
