Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, May 27: A coal-laden truck overturned on National Highway 75 at Maroli after its brakes failed. The incident took place on Thursday May 27.

The driver identified as Karthik from Mandya, and the cleaner of the truck, escaped unhurt in the incident.

The truck transporting coal was on its way from Panambur to Mandya.

When the truck reached Maroli, its brakes reportedly failed. The truck then went over the road divider and overturned on the other side of the road.

It may be recalled, a similar incident took place in the month of March when a truck transporting imported coal toppled near Maroli after the driver lost control over it.

Thats because Indian coal has more ash (45%) and less calorific value(2500 - 3000kcals). Whereas the imported coal from Indonesia has less ash (3% or less) and High Calorific Value (upto 6000kCals). Sulphur content is also low upto 3%. This coal is used for coaking and as metallurgical coal. So its important you know what you are talking about rather than just writing some non-sense in the comment box just because your fingers dont have any work while reading the article.
