Kundapur, May 26: Defending the state government over the way it has handled the Covid-19 pandemic, minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday, May 26 said there is no question of a change in the leadership in the state.
"Chief minister BS Yediyurappa is working very efficiently. The people in the state and political representatives are proud of his work. We all are collectively working along with the CM to make Karnataka free from corona by implementing his orders and guidelines," Kota said.
He was speaking with media persons in Uppunda where he visited to inspect the work carried out by the Covid-19 task force in the Byndoor constituency.
"The government has announced free of charge treatment for black fungus cases in each district. On the other hand, gram panchayats have been provided with the power to take measures to control coronavirus. They can also purchase vehicles to ferry Covid-19 patients to medical centres. As the panchayat representatives are also members of the task force there is a growing demand to vaccinate them too. I have discussed this matter with CM. But, since there are over 90,000 gram panchayat members in the state, vaccinating all will take time. In tomorrow's cabinet meeting, this point will be brought to the notice of the government," Kota said.
"As the cases are on the rise in the Udupi district, a large crowd should not be allowed to gather in wedding ceremonies that have already received permission. Social distancing should be maintained at such events and people must practice caution," he added.
"The government has sanctioned Rs 5,000 to those houses which got inundated due to the rain. For the houses that have been completely damaged the government will provide Rs 5 lac as compensation. If proper documents are submitted, Rs 1 lac will be given initially and Rs 4 lac will be given in instalments," the minister said.
