Udupi, May 25: Minister for muzrai and backward classes welfare Kota Srinivas Poojary directed officials to shift the Covid patients in villages with a lack of medical facilities at home to Covid Care Centres. "Village-level task force committee should come forward to shift the Covid patients in the gram panchayat limits to Covid Care Centres," he said.
He conducted a review meeting of Covid management at Manipal Rajathadri Keshavan video conference hall, along with village-level task force committee members through video conference.
“Usually the houses in villages do not have separate rooms and toilets. When people test positive, confirm their symptoms and shift them to hospitals if necessary. If not, the people's representatives and officials at village-level should shift them to Covid Care Centres and provide them with necessary medical care,” he said.
“If the infected refuse to get admitted at the Covid Care Centres, strict action should be taken against the concerned and they should be shifted with the help of the police department. The village-level committee members should hold meetings daily, obtain information about the infected, monitor the management of Covid, seal down the houses of the infected and provide ration to such residences if necessary. ASHA workers should visit these houses every day and enquire about their health,” he said.
MP Shobha Karandlaje said that it is the responsibility of elected representatives to monitor the health of people undergoing treatment at home or at Covid Care Centres on a daily basis. She directed the officials to provide them with necessary treatment and ensure that there are no fatalities. “The poor should be educated about Ayushman Arogya Karnataka scheme,” she added.
“Retired doctors and those who have recently received their medical degree in villages should be identified and encouraged to provide service at local primary health centres. Vaccinations for everybody will be taken up on priority,” the MP assured.

Meanwhile, MLA Lalaji R Mendon stressed that people should observe Covid protocol.
