Belagavi BJP MLA organises mass 'havans' to ward off coronavirus

Belagavi, May 25 (IANS): A day after several hundreds defied Covid rules to take part in the funeral of a 'divine horse', BJP MLA from Belagavi Dakshin assembly segment Abhay Kumar Patil organised 'havans' (a fire ritual performed on special occasions by a Hindu priest usually for a homeowner) in over 50 different places within his constituency on Tuesday to ward off the Covid virus.

Patil told reporters that he was a firm believer in Ayurveda medicine and the good effects of Homa. "Hinduism has answers for all ill effects. Coronavirus too is an ill effect. To ward off the evil of this pandemic which has taken a toll of the people for over one year, it can only be stopped with divine intervention," he explained.

Patil said "You (reporters) may not be believers in these kinds of rituals but there are several people out there who believe in these rituals, it will surely hurt their sentiments."

He said that with 'havan' being organised on the streets, it (smoke) would not cause any problems to those who are asthmatic or have bronchitis or any patient who is suffering from chest related diseases. "What problems are you talking about? This is a ritual; those who follow it have respect for these things. You may want all answers to pass the test of science. If you are a believer, Homa itself is a science for them. Homa is a matter of belief, those who believe it will venerate it, those who don't like you (Reporters) will never understand the importance of it. So there is no question of debating with you over matters of faith."

Patil, who is a three-time MLA from Belagavi Dakshin, added that he himself had contracted the dreaded disease and he has a lot of faith in these rituals as these help people to ward off the evil effects of such a dreaded virus.

Since 2019 December Allopathy was experimenting with drugs on corona patients. First with Hydroxychloroquine, then Remdesivir, then plasma therapy. There was no cure; they were trying to save lives, by experimenting. So called intellectuals will have a problem only when Ayurveda or Homeopathy tries to offer medicine for corona. Finally what is the basis of DRDO developed cure? A paper published in April 2020 by Balakrishna of Patanjai! Don’t do if you don’t believe it; but let the people believe in it do it. Keep mutual respect.

Performing HOMA-HAVANA is a special Hindu religious belief which is not seen in any other religion. Performing HOMA does not effect the science negatively as it is a matter of religious belief. In broad sense HOMA is a worship of nature. So, they are not idiots who perform such offerings. So what Patil did is correct if he did it without gathering. So, dont call him Idiot. You can find so many people to call so.

Vicky, you seem to have been convinced that Covid infections happen only in 88%. That's why you have no problem with a Yagna conducting, a holy horse burial, Kumbha Mela or thousands gather in election campaign. The lower percentage people abided by instructions, unlike you. Keep up man, even in death your % will be more. Enjoy.

With lot of opposition able to introduce YOGA in more than 155 countries and well aware all of them its benefit. People gradually comes to know benefits of Hinduism rituals and its long standing relation with well reputed rishis. Modiji also wants to introduce HAVANA in international arena..for and foremost in Wuhaan..a epic centre. How hinduism is direct connected to spirituality should be understand by one and all. By chewing just available things it wont work in difficult time.

There is nothing wrong in doing Homa but see the situation first & follow Govt. guidelines also. Why Homa is not held till now to evict the biggest evil of India - i.e. Corruption. Who is opposing ? I do not recollect any church or Masjid has done any special prayer or Homa to eradicate the corruption Please elect educated representative who knows at least the difference between virus & bacteria.

Mr. Patil, You should have invited some of the outsiders as well. We have loads of Bhakths who believe in Homas (havans), cow products and Corona Devi. Few of them are educated bhakths. Just like you said if anyone say anything, that will hurt their feelings. We all should live with feelings only forever. Make sure, the vaccine does not even enter your constituency.""" If you are a believer, Homa (and cow products as well as Corona Devi) itself is a science for them. Homa (and cow products as well as Corona Devi) is a matter of belief, those who believe it will venerate it, (just like venerating Vishnu's avatar Fakir) those who don't like you (anti-nationals) will never understand the importance of it. So there is no question of debating with you over matters of faith.(as well as economy, employment, lack of medical facilities and many more)"
