Mangalore, Aug 18: The foundation stone for the much awaited city police commissionerate building will be laid near the existing office of the commissioner, on Monday August 23.
Speaking to press persons at the commissioner’s office on Wednesday August 18, city police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that chief minister B S Yeddyurappa will lay the foundation stone for the proposed building.
Many other ministers will be present on the occasion as guests.
Simons and Associates, that has branches in Udupi and Bangalore, has been given the contract to design the building. The two-storey building will be constructed by CCL company, at an approximate cost of Rs 3 crore on a 20,000 sq ft land, he added.
Speaking on the recruitment for the 200 posts under the commissionerate, Singh said that interviews as well as a central entrance test and physical tests will be held at Nehru Maidan, Mangala Stadium, and NMPT stadium from Thursday August 26.
He said that already 20,000 applications have been received for these posts making it difficult for the commissionerate to shortlist candidates. Singh said that it might take a few days to select the candidates.
