Mangalore, Aug 18: The national conference of chartered accountants will be held at Loyalla Hall of St Aloysius PU College in the city on August 20 and 21, under the aegis of the local unit of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India (ICAI).
The conference will cover the subject, ‘direct taxes and allied laws’. The conference will be inaugurated by state home minister, Dr V S Acharya. ICAI vice president, G Ramaswamy will preside. Managing director of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals, U K Basu, will participate in the capacity of guest, informed S Srinivas Kamath, president of the city unit of ICAI, addressing a press conference here on Tuesday August 17.
During the two-day conference, discussions, presentations and interactions on various topics will be conducted with an aim to introduce the chartered accountants from this region about the latest developments in the field, spreading awareness about new laws enacted, providing information about new technologies etc, he explained.
Karnataka Bank managing director, P Jayaram Bhat, MSEZ managing director, Rajiv Banga, and Corporation Bank general manager, Ramamurty, will participate in the valedictory function to be held on August 21, Kamath stated.
Former president of ICAI, Bhupati, will guide the students desirous of appearing for the chartered accountancy examination, about the preparations they have to make to face the examination, at 6 pm on August 19 at the auditorium of the institute’s city unit, he added. Office bearers of the institute, Chandramohan, Jayaram Shetty, Muralimohan and Shivakumar, were present.
