Govt land encroachments are common. The Local Authorities more often than not, turn a Blind eye to these encroachments. They even get Electricity and Water connections without any problem !! I had given in writing about an encroachment at Mani village on the Highway more than Three years back, a reminder later , met the then Asst Comm ..yet no action taken.. Now the State govt/National govt will reimburse these encroachers if they widen the Highway.. Planning to send a copy to the Lok Ayukta as a last resort....

DC said "The district is preparing to take strict action against the guilty." There are some protocol while construction, fencing any property. So definitely government official's might have (Must visit) inspected while approving the construction activities. Against whom, DC will take action? End of the day, who encroached will be in big souq, May be approval was given as kickback policy.

People keep saying the govt. is corrupt. Fact is:most people are corrupt and therefore the govt. is corrupt. If the authorities implement rule of law then everyone will follow it. But as soon as the people see that some people are let off they too wish to join the club. The circle of corruption thus keeps turning. Widespread enchroachment of govt. land meant for road widening is rampant. This is done less by the poor and needy(who will be kicked out unceremoniously) than by large organisations or influential persons or persons who already have acres and acres of land. These enchroachments are done using certain persons or organisations as fronts so as to create a land bank which can be milked later. This is all done with the connivance of the local officials. I have made a complaint to DC DK, Thasildar, VA , 3 years back with 3 reminders to each, yet nothing has been done to clear the very conspicuous enchroachments. With each passing day it will get more difficult to remove the enchroachments. After some years if the govt. needs to widen the roads these very people will seek compensation at market rates. Govt. will spend more tax-payers money on fighting court cases and setting up commissions and doling out compensations. So the criminals not only steal the cake they even steal the icing. Meanwhile law-abiding citizens have to take loans from the bank to buy a house and keep paying the interest on the loans or live on rent. Roads cannot be widened which leads to more accidents(already in India over 400 persons die everyday only due to road accidents, majority of these are due to narrow roads). The govt. keeps crying that they have no land for parks, playgrounds, garbage dumping, to build govt. offices(so they themselves have to pay rent), and the list goes on.

If the farmers are cultivating the land and feeding thier families what you are taking it back from them. The projects you are talking about are they create jobs for the local community or just a show of doing the job? Please all your projects should be communicated first to the public and then take the land back otherwise many poor families will suffer. Good detailed plan makes one to better understand otherwise poor will suffer
