Riyadh: 21 mosques reopen after sanitization

Riyadh, May 22: Mosques were temporarily shut for cleaning after a number of Covid cases were confirmed among worshippers. The ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has reopened 21 mosques after measures for prevention were completed.

Over the past 40 days, the spike in Covid cases had forced the closure of 1,261 mosques. The mosques were reopened at six different areas after sanitization measures were completed.

Seven mosques were reopened in Makkah, six in Riyadh, three in both Baha and Jazan, and a mosque each in Najran and Asir, the ministry noted in a report issued on Friday, May 21.
