Kalaburagi, May 22: BJP state president and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel accused that Congress is responsible for the increase in cases of coronavirus in the country and the deaths resulting from the dreaded disease.

Kateel was speaking to the scribes before boarding a flight to Bidar to console the family of Dattatreya Thoogavnkar, divisional organizing secretary of BJP, who died recently due to coronavirus infection.

Accusing Congress, Nalin further said, “Congress made false propaganda about the vaccine saying that it is not effective and it also causes depletion of manliness. In addition, they also ridiculed that this vaccine is BJP vaccine and Modi vaccine. This made the general public to have second thoughts of taking the vaccine, which resulted in the increased number of infections and deaths.

“The statement of JD(S) leader and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy that Congress has made false propaganda about the coronavirus vaccine is true. Congress has systematically misled the general public with regards to the coronavirus vaccine. Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself took vaccine in the month of February in order to instil confidence among the people, most of the public stayed away from taking the vaccine. Now the same Congress is crying that vaccine is not available,” he said.
