Daijiworld’s Kundapur correspondents, others help migrant labourer reach home

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (JD)

Kundapur, May 21: In an exemplary incident of humanity, Daijiworld media’s reporters from the taluk along with police personnel and other like-minded people, helped a migrant worker to reach his hometown.

Ashwath Acharya, reporter of a private satellite news channel during his duty here, came across a migrant labourer who was finding it difficult to make a living. The labourer requested him to drop him to his hometown. Ashwath immediately contacted Raghavendra Balkur and Sylvester D'Souza, the Kundapur correspondents for Daijiworld 24*7 and Daijiworld.com respectively. They plunged into action immediately.

All the three reporters, along with the help of police personnel Sachin Shetty, home guard Vijeth and lawyer Sreedhar P S, tried to make arrangements for the labourer to help him reach his hometown. They even provided him with cash to help in the journey.

Finally, after many attempts they succeeded in convincing a lorry driver to ferry the labourer to Bagalkot.

It may be noted that Raghavendra Balkur, during the first lockdown, had helped more than 20 migrant labourers to reach their hometowns. His noble work has continued even during the second wave of the pandemic. They have provided food kits and essentials to the needy now. This act of journalists along with police personnel and lawyer, has been largely praised by people.

Wonder how many such labourers are waiting for help. All thanks to carelessness on part of the government. Best part is thousands are dying everyday but we have not seen resignation from a single politician claiming moral responsibility for this coatic situation , misery and death
