Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, May 20: The government hospital in Kundapur is well-known for providing good health services. In the first wave of Covid-19, the hospital had provided a good treatment to the Covid patients. Even in the second wave of Covid-19, a team of young efficient doctors are providing good healthcare at the hospital.

Four young doctors in Kundapur government hospital have drawn the attention of the people by providing quality treatment. After completion of their medical degree, rather than staying in the comfort of their home, the young doctors have come forward to serve the Covid-19 patients. Their move has been widely appreciated in the public domain.

Dr Ashith and Dr Rajath, son of Mumbai-based hotelier Rathnakar Shetty of Giliyaru and daughter of late Maratha Suresh Shetty, Dr Rachana, and Dr Niveditha of Kundapur Hawaldar family are serving at the Kundapur Government Hospital.

Their service-oriented mindset has brought them to the medical field. These doctors should be appreciated for their courage in serving the Covid-19 patients even during the pandemic.

Even their parents are happy about the service their kids are giving to the patients. Dr Rachana informed that she is inspired by her father late Suresh Shetty. Dr Ashith and Dr Ranjith expressed that serving the patients in their native is a matter of pride. During the first wave of Covid-19, both have served from June to October. This time as well they have been given the job to serve at the hospital. While Niveditha joined after completing her medical education.

Under the guidance of Covid-19 hospital nodal officer Dr Nagesh, Dr Vijayshankar, Dr Ramachandra Marakal, and under the direction of hospital chief medical officer, Dr Robert Rebello the young team of doctors is serving the patients round the clock.

"Here Covid-19 and non-Covid patients are being treated. There 120 beds in the hospital. As many as 3,000 patients have been treated in the first wave of Covid-19. Even this time, young doctors under the guidance of Dr Nagesh, Dr Vijayshankar, Dr Ramachandra Marakal are treating the patients. Even during the first wave of Covid-19, Dr Rajath and Dr Ashith both have worked here. Along with them Dr Rachana and Dr Niveditha are working. We are guiding them. We are focusing on their health too. In such a situation, parents hesitate to send their children for the treatment of patients. But, I congratulate the parents of the young doctors," said chief medical officer Dr Robert Rebello.

Assistant commissioner Kundapur K Raju said, "Four young doctors under the guidance of Dr Nagesh, Dr Robert are serving in Kundapur Covid-19 hospital. This should be a role model to others. The young doctors in the entire state should involve in this service. As many as 3,000 patients have been treated in the first wave of Covid-19. This time around as well the hospital is providing good service."

God bless these young doctors and give them all the strength and courage as you are working very hard treating these Covid-19 patients. I know how hard it is working with patients of all types. I have worked for 22 years in a hospital in New York City and happily retired and so is my wife.
