Udupi, May 20: The district deputy commissioner G Jagdeesha has warned the private doctors of strict action if they are found treating symptomatic coronavirus patients locally, without subjecting them to mandatory tests.
“The number of corona-positive people is increasing in the district. It has been observed that corona-infected persons are being hospitalized at the last moment. The public initially visit the local clinic or the doctor and take over-the-counter medicines for fever, cold, and cough etc. which are symptoms of coronavirus. When the situation does not get better they come to hospitals where it is difficult to treat their critical conditions. This leads to deaths of people,” the DC said in a press release.

"It is advisable to get tested for coronavirus if symptoms are detected initially. At such a point, it is easy to give treatment if the infection is detected early on as the chances of recovery are high. The symptoms get severe if the proper medication is not done as OTC tablets only give temporary relief," he stated in the press release.
"Henceforth if any patient with coronavirus symptoms is found, the doctors should ensure that such patients get tested for the disease. If any cases are treated locally and the patient dies after reaching the critical stage strict action will be taken against the doctors," the DC warned.
