Puttur, Aug 16: Dakshina Kannada member of parliament (MP), Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that he has been promised by minister of state for railways, K H Muniyappa, to take all necessary action to ensure that the Mumbai-Karwar super fast train, which has been extended to the city, will touch Mangalore Central railway station as soon as possible. Kateel said he has extracted an assurance from the minister that the train will not be extended to Kerala in the coming days.
The MP stated, Muniyappa had told him that the railway ministry will take all steps to remove the technical hitches that have been impeding the plans of the ministry to make Mangalore Central as the destination station for this train.
Nalin said that considering the reports and widespread dissent to the plans of the railways to run the train from Mangalore Junction station, he had taken up the issue with the minister. “Union minister Muniyappahas informed me that there is no question of extending the said train to Kerala,” he stressed.
