Udupi, May 17: “The state government and the district administration should hold vaccination campaigns in every gram panchayats as soon as possible without indulging in politics," urged district Congress vice president and Tenkanidyoor gram panchayat member Prakhyat Shetty.
“Covid vaccines have not been supplied adequately and people are struggling even for the first dose. As primary health centres in some gram panchayat limits have not been identified for vaccination, people from such gram panchayat limits have to travel to Udupi for vaccination. Several senior citizens unable to travel to Udupi have not received the first dose also. The general public is deprived of the vaccine due to the irregular supply by the government," he said.
"Some party activists are providing information about vaccine availability only to their supporters in the name of the helpline. Every citizen in the country has the right to obtain the vaccine and it is wrong to politicize the matter. The concerned party leaders and people's representatives should realize it and provide opportunities for everybody to obtain vaccines,” he urged.
“The state government, district administration and the MLA should step up and ensure that vaccines are made available in the health centres in every gram panchayat limits. Or else the party will hold protests in the future,” he warned.
