Kaup, May 17: In an incident that highlights how mobile gaming addiction has taken over the lives of youngsters, a 16-year-old girl ended her life after being rebuked by her parents for playing video games on mobile phone. The incident occurred on the evening of May 15 at Manipur Kote, Manipura village of the taluk.
The deceased is Suhebat Aslamiya, daughter of complainant Zubeida and Shaban couple. According to the complaint filed the mother of the deceased, Aslamiya used to play games on the mobile phone continuously and did not heed to their advice of not to do so. On the evening of May 15 also, complainant and mother of the deceased advised her to stop playing games on mobile and took away the mobile from her. Deceased Aslamiya was angry and was sitting at a corner in the house.

Later, the mother of the deceased went to offer namaz and her husband, father of the deceased was having bath. When mother came out from house after namaz, the daughter could not be found. When both parents started searching for Aslamiya, they found a crowd of people gathered at the government well which is at around 200 meter from their house and came to know that their daughter has jumped into the well. Though the fire service personnel rushed to the spot and lifted Aslamiya from the well, she had breathed her last.
A case in this regard is registered at Kaup police station.
