Over 31,000 new Covid infections in Karnataka; Bengaluru single-day cases drop to below 10k

Bengaluru, May 16: Karnataka on Sunday May 16 registered another sharp rising in the number of coronavirus cases, adding 31,531 new cases to its tally.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state rose to 6,00,147. Bengaluru Urban's tally came down considerably with 8,344 cases in a single day.

As many as 403 deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Sunday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 143 deaths and Ballari 26. With this, the toll so far has risen to 21,837.

The state recorded 36,475 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 15,81,457.

So far, Karnataka has seen 22,03,462 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 27.84%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 1.27%.

As many as 1,11,88,143 people have received vaccination so far.

    I live in Bangalore (Semi urban area).....I see the vehicles going on the road (Although less before lock down). Even two wheelers are riding without helmet. I doubt that enough policing is there in Bangalore or not. I see the news o sizing vehicles in Mangalore. If this is the real case in Karnataka, I can seize at least 1000 vehicles if iI am given the power to do so. That too not in the city. In J.P Nagar 9th phase. other areas may not be better than this for sure.
