Udupi, May 16: In the light of the increasing number of coronavirus infected people in the district of late, MP Shobha Karandlaje held review of Covid handling for the second time in the last eight days, at the office of the deputy commissioner here on Sunday May 16.
She gathered information from the officials about the allotment of beds to the citizens to the Covid-infected people, oxygen supply, provision of Remdesivir, vaccine adminstration etc. She guided the Covid management team of the district adminstration about the way it has to stay prepared to handle the situation without creating any problems for the infected people and without giving scope for shortage of anything.
She specifically expressed worry about the increase in the number of coronavirus infected people in rural areas of the district and directed the Covid workforce at the gram panchayat level to function more efficiently.
Shobha collected detailed report covering all the matters from each of the officials and contacted district in-charge minister, Basavaraj Bommai, during the meeting through video conference and urged him to see that the district gets enough oxygen, Remdesivir and other medicines, hospital equipment etc.
She said that a review of the situation gives the impression that the second wave is slowly retreating. She impressed upon the people, particularly the infected people and their family members not to come under any kind of pressure or apprehension.
Kaup MLA, Lalaji R Mendon, additional deputy commissioner, Sadashiva Prabhu, zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Dr Y Naveen Bhat, zilla panchayat planning officer, A Srinivas Rao and others participated.
She then reviewed arrangements being made at various places in the form of precautionary measures to handle Tauktae cyclone. She asked the officials to shift those in danger sufficiently in advance.
Karkala MLA, V Sunil Kumar, deputy commissioner, G Jagadeesha, district superintendent of police, Vishnuvardhan, sub-divisional officer, Raju, district health officer, Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda,district surgeon, Madhusudan Nayak, distrct Covid officer, Dr Prashanth Bhat and other officials were present.
