Mangaluru, May 15: The event of distributing food kits to the needy by Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh was held at Bishop’s House in the city on Saturday May 15.
In his introductory speech, Stany Lobo, president of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh said, “Catholic Sabha has provided food kits and grocery items to poor families living under the limits of Mangalore diocese and has provided kits to more than 2,000 families. Today we have made arrangements to deliver food kits to around 1,000 needy families of the society.
“We have got donations from many kind-hearted donors in order to carry out this work. Many donors have voluntarily come forward to help us considering our service to society. We have the responsibility of carrying forward this noble work in future also with the help of donors.”
The president welcomed the gathering and also gave a call to donor to help them more. Spiritual director Fr Mathew Vas inaugurated the programme and said, “Let us serve the people in whatever way we can. Let the needy get at least some help from us.”
Vice president Steevan Rodrigues, presidents of various zones, secretaries, office bearers and media were present. Chief secretary Alphonso Fernandes compered the programme and rendered vote of thanks.
