Mangaluru, May 15: Coast guard force rescued three fishermen, who were in distress in the Arabian Sea as their boat engine developed a snag.

The boat was stagnant in the Arabian Sea at a distance of around 10 nautical miles from Kannur.

The coast guard got the information and rescued them after conducting operation in tandem with Vikram vessel. The fishermen were provided with water and medical aid.

Due to the effect of Tauktae cyclone, incessant rains are lashing the coastal districts right from the night of Friday May 14. Daily life is thrown out of gear. Though daily wage labourers were ready to go to work as the weekend curfew is revoked, they could not because of rains.

People could not buy essentials also due to the high velocity winds and rain. City and rural areas of the district has received heavy downpour. People living on sea shore are anxious as the waves have turned violent.
