Mangaluru/Udupi, May 15: The low pressure area in the Arabian Sea has already transformed into cyclone and the coastal districts are receiving incessant rains since the night of Friday May 14.
The rains are continuing on Saturday May 15 morning also in many parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. High velocity winds are lashing across the district. The waves in Arabian Sea have turned violent.

Fishermen are already warned not to venture into the sea because of high tidal waves. An NDRF team has arrived as a precaution to the district. According to India Meteorological Department, coastal Karnataka will receive good rains on Sunday and Monday also.
Moodbidri and surrounding areas are receiving good rains from the early morning of Saturday. Dark clouds are seen over the area. There is a possibility that the rains will continue to pour till the evening.
Udupi district also is receiving non-stop rains since 3 am on Saturday May 15 due to the effect of cyclone Tauktae.
The sea has turned violent at Malpe, Padukere, Maravanathe and Mattu. There is a possibility of sea erosion at some places. IMD had already given alert on heavy downpour and high velocity winds. Red alert is declared in both Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district for the next three days.
Fishermen are warned not to venture into sea for fishing. Red alert is declared till May 18. For emergency public is urged to call 1077.
Day-to-day life is thrown out of gear due to the continuous rain. High velocity winds and rains are experienced at sea shore.
