Mangaluru: Vaccination drive for above 18 - Only for those who receive SMSes

Mangaluru, May 10: In Udupi district, the programme of vaccinating the people falling under Plus 18 category will begin on Monday May 10. In this district, initially the vaccination will be launched in four places. In Dakshina Kannada, the drive will begin on Tuesday.

The vaccine shots will be administered to those who have already registered themselves and slots have been confirmed. Udupi district hospital, St Cecily School, and taluk hospitals at Kundapur and Karkala are the venues where vaccination will be undertaken, said district health officer, Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda.

Those who have registered themselves and have received message (SMS) to get vaccinated only have to visit the vaccination centres concerned at 2 pm. No on the spot registration will be extended at any cost.

A total of 4,500 doses will arrive on Monday. In each of these centres, 4,200 doses will be distributed for seven days at the rate of 150 doses in each centre per day.

Dakshina Kannada: In Dakshina Kannada district, vaccination drive for above 18 age group will be launched by the health department on Tuesday. Only those who have registered online will be allowed to get the vaccination. People in the above 18 age group can get the vaccinations at the district Wenlock hospital and taluk hospitals in the district. Covishield vaccines will be received on Monday. In each of the centres, 150 to 170 persons alone can get vaccinated. In the second phase, people in the 45 to 60 and above 60 age group who have got the first dose will get a chance to get second vaccination.

They need not get registered themselves online. But there will not be provision to get the first dose.

    my friend went 2 wenlok hospital 4 a 2nd dose of covishield. but no vaccine was available. he returned back after waiting 1&half hour. people all over India r facing chaos, no oxygen, no ventilators, no beds, no vaccines. govt., Policy machinery completely collapsed. hum dho hamare dho must resign & stay back. country is now back 2 70 years due 2 mismanagement.

    IT’S NOT WORKING AT ALL. AFTER RECEIVED SMS I CALLED DESIGNATED HEALTH CARE CENTER TO CONFRIM MY APPOINTMENT. AND THE REPLY FROM THE HEALTH CENTER STAFF WAS … WE DON’T HAVE VACCINE ……. SO PLEASE STAY SAFE STAY AT HOME .. AVOID EVERY DAY MOVEMNT FOR GROCERIES .. BRING FOR A WEEK ..
